Registered Dental Hygienist - Pool (HHS)

Position Summary Benefits Supplemental Questions
This position is responsible for providing dental services in conjunction with the Seal-A-Smile program in the school districts located within the county and the Women, Infant and Children's (WIC) clinic. In addition, sealant clinics may be run within the county's communities as the needs arise. The Registered Dental Hygienist will complete assessment of children's teeth, apply fluoride varnish and, if applicable, sealants. Referrals will be made for treatment of identified cavities or other oral health needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
Conduct dental screenings to assess oral health and associated risks. Determine which teeth are appropriate to seal.
Provide fluoride varnish applications and apply dental sealants for targeted school aged children.
Administer sealant retention checks, assessing the quality of sealants previously applied and reapplying if necessary.
Refer children in need of follow-up care or restorative dental needs to community providers.
Clean, disinfect and sterilize dental instruments.
Transport and maintain dental equipment per manufacturer's guidelines.
Instruct children and parents on oral hygiene standards of care, nutrition and other habits effecting oral health.
Maintain and enter required data in the Wisconsin DentaSeal registry.
Complete and submit required billing information in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist with collecting, compiling and maintaining statistics and reports required and/or requested by federal, state and local agencies.
Prepare and maintain consumer records and reports in accordance with agency policies and State data requirements.
Participate in population health initiatives.
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program with three to five years of experience. Ability to work closely with children of all ages and with any disability required. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care Principles is essential.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Wisconsin driver license.
Proof of minimum auto liability insurance coverage.
Must be able to provide a reliable personal vehicle to be used for travel on a daily basis.
Wisconsin Dental Hygiene license through WI Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Professional liability insurance policy.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
